'Vampire Diaries': EP Julie Plec previews the season finale

The Vampire Diaries season finale doesn’t air until May 16, but the “Graduation” photos have arrived.

“It’s difficult to throw an event in Mystic Falls without it going catastrophically awry, but one of the things that was really important to us is that we do give this event itself its due,” says executive producer Julie Plec, who cowrote the episode with Caroline Dries. “We approached this episode, in its own way, like a series finale because our character’s graduating from high school is a shift in the show to open up a lot of new storytelling opportunities and new environments. So we really wanted to be able to get all the emotion out of this episode that we could before we move on to a different life. We made sure that in spite of everything that’s going on in the midst of it, we still get those great friendship moments and nostalgia moments that I, as a fan of TV over the decades, loved so much on high school shows as you reached that milestone.”

Will there be a death at graduation? “There will definitely be an altercation resulting in some blood loss, but that’s about all I can say,” Plec teases.

From the episode synopsis, we know that Mystic Falls will be “overrun with ghosts intent on settling old scores and fulfilling their supernatural destinies.” They’ll begin to appear in the May 9 episode, appropriate titled “The Walking Dead.” Says Plec, “Part of Silas’ plan to drop the veil — and Bonnie’s effort to either help him or stop him — they kind of blow up in everybody’s face in ‘The Walking Dead,’ and we get our first glimpses of what would happen if this veil fell completely. We start to have some ghosts coming through from the other side. It’s a nice collection of faces that will make us happy, and then some faces that we thought we probably shouldn’t see again because they’re up to no good.” (So they are technically ghosts? “It’s the same way we’ve done in the past when they break their way through from the other side, they have corporeal form,” Plec explains. “It’s just that if you kill them and the veil’s down, they can just walk right back through. So they’re kind of indestructible.”)

Someone will finally take the cure for vampirism in the finale. Plec won’t say whether the third time is a charm for Rebekah. “I will tell you that we started the season having firmly decided exactly who was gonna get the cure, and about halfway through the season, we changed our minds,” she says.

Plec also won’t spoil what Elena decides are her true feelings for each of the Salvatore Brothers, or whether Stefan will head out of town for the start of season 5 – something Paul Wesley has rooted for. “It all hinges on what, if any truth comes out of Elena and Elena’s situation,” Plec says. “Stefan has been pretty clear about being ready to move on. So the question is will he need to?” (We’re sure the shot of Damon above from the finale doesn’t influence Elena, at all).

We spoke to Plec before the most recent episode’s reveal that Hayley is pregnant with Klaus’ child, so we didn’t get to ask her whether Caroline will know the news by the time Klaus makes his surprise return (or if he’ll tell her). But when she told us, “I cried some really beautiful sad tears, and I cried some great happy tears as well” while writing the episode, we have to think the moment pictured (http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/i/2013/05/01/The-Vampire-Diaries-Finale-03.jpg) brought on the waterworks.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES’: PAUL WESLEY DISHES ON STEFAN’S FUTURE

In the last new episode of The Vampire Diaries, Stefan (Paul Wesley) told Damon it was time they break their cycle of loving the same woman. To that end, Stefan said his plan is to 1.) Help Damon shove the cure down Elena’s throat and 2.) Get her out of his life so he can find a new one for himself. That last bit sounds pretty good to Wesley as he looks ahead to season 5. “I think that Stefan should go off and explore another town,” he tells EW. “I think Stefan is really interesting when he separates from the pack and explores his own demons. I think it’s time for him to maybe go off, and then come back later to Mystic Falls and see how that impacts the relationships that he has with Elena and Damon. I could just be saying that selfishly because I’d love a different storyline, but I also think just objectively it would be good for the show.”

Executive producer Julie Plec confirms that someone will take the cure in the May 16 season finale, which Wesley would love to see be one of the core TVD players. “I like to think [next season] will maybe get a little less hectic and go back to some of the less complex days of just building character,” he says. “Maybe one of us ends up being a human, and we see how we all have to deal with that on a much more grounded level.” Plec also says that we will get an answer to whether the love Elena expressed for Damon is real. Is Wesley ready for that? “God, yes,” he says with a laugh. “I can’t imagine Elena ever definitively saying, ‘Oh, I’m not in love with you; it’s just Stefan,’ because then I think, where does the show go from there? But her intense feelings for Damon during the sire bond — I can’t imagine that they were true 110 percent. I’m curious myself what’s going to happen.”
After sharing a dance in the April 18 prom episode, Stefan will continue to ask himself for the rest of the season whether, if Elena were to want to come back to him, he’d say yes. “That’s not to say that it’s Who will she choose? all over again,” Plec says. “But there is the question of, where does her heart really lie? What is the truth? And what direction is the next phase of this love triangle going to go in?” The answer could be love square.

Even though Rebekah (Claire Holt) would leave Mystic Falls for New Orleans if the Originals spin-off gets picked up for The CW’s fall schedule, there’s still Candice Accola’s Caroline, who even No Humanity Elena has started shipping with Stefan. (She’s on Stefan’s dance card at the prom, too.) “I do think that when an audience vocalizes their like or dislike for something, it usually has an impact — in general, but specifically for this show,” Wesley says. “The audience is very loyal. We don’t necessarily give them what they want, but I notice that we definitely take things into consideration and toy with them, keep them on the hook,” he adds, laughing again. Plec doesn’t exactly rule it out: “All I’ll say on the matter is I’ve been shipping them since episode 2 of season 2, when Stefan took her in the bathroom and told her she is going to be okay. So if I’M shipping them,” Plec says, laughing herself, “then maybe one day it’s a road that we can travel down.”

THR: Intr-un interviu recent, ai spus ca va fi un moment cand Elena va trebui sa decida pe care Salvatore il alege. O sa se intample pana la sfarsitul sezonului 3 sau va fi nevoie de mai mult timp?


Julie: Starea actuala a triunghiului cu siguranta va ajunge la o concluzie pana la sfarsitul sezonului. Cel mai important lucru pe care trebuie sa-l inteleaga oamenii este ca "end game" (sfarsitul jocului aka cu cine va ramane Elena) este egal cu sfarsitul. Toate conversatiile de genul acesta trebuie sa se termine pana la sfarsit. Nu o sa iesim din acest sezon inainte ca Elena sa-si dea seama ca nu mai poate sa se lupte cu sentimentele ei pentru cei doi frati si ca trebuie sa fie luata o decizie.  Sursa

   In episodul de saptamana aceasta, "Dangerous Liaisons", ultimul plan a lui Esther de a-l ucide pe Klaus (si, implicit intreaga sa familie) a fost dezvaluit. Va fi Elena innebunita de durere dupa "iesirea" lui Damon & Rebekah? Si cand se va intoarce Tyler? Julie Plec ne raspunde la intrebari...
Isi va distruge intr-adevar Esther familia?
Asta planuieste ea cu siguranta, dar Plec spune: "Acest lucru nu este o afacere facuta in minutul 42 al episodului, dar lasa o multime de potential de cum ar putea decurge lucrurile in urmatorul episod (in bine sau in rau)". Dar un lucru este sigur..."Toata lumea a baut sampanie amestecata cu sangele Elenei".
Care vor fi sentimentele Elenei in legatura cu "iesirea" lui Damon & Rebakah?
Vestile circula repede in Mystic Falls, iar aventura lui Damon & Rebekah nu face exceptie. "Elena va fi suparata pe mai multe lucruri." spune Julie. O chestie pe care am vazut-o la Damon este ca atunci cand este suparat, face anumite lucruri. Intr-un fel, asta este cel mai crud lucru pe care il putea face, dar vedem aici o evolutie a personajului, si anume ca in loc sa mearga pe strada si sa omoare un om, a preferat sa o loveasca pe Elena unde o doare mai tare.

Cum va face fata Caroline noii situatii in care se afla?
Caroline din Sezonul 1 era diperata dupa atentie, insa actuala Caroline este tentata, dar nu va da curs flirtului cu Klaus. "Regele tuturor vampirilor rai, a smuls-o din obscuritate, spunand: <<As imparti cu tine afectiunea mea, darurile mele si flirtul meu.>>, iar fata noastra, care a ajuns atat de departe a fost ceva de genul: <<Vorbeste cu mana, amice!>> Deci, vazand-o luand atitudine in fata lui Klaus si aparandu-l pe Tyler este un lucru maret pentru ea" spune Julie Plec.

Cand se va intoarce Tyler in TVD?
Nu pana in episoadele din primavara, din pacate. Dar cand se va intoarce hibridul nostru favorit, ne asteptam sa vedem cum problemele sale cu furia revin. "Nu este nimic mai rau in a merge departe si a intra intr-o agonie nesfarsita, doar pentru a rupe legatura cu un tip, iar cand te intorci in oras, sa afli ca el s-a dat la iubita ta. Nu cred ca va trece cu bine peste asta."

Ce pun la cale vrajitoarele Bennet?
Bonnie si Abby au lipsit din acest episod, dar ele vor avea roluri importante in urmatorul episod, cand va fi luna plina. "Am invatat ca pentru o vraja foarte grea este nevoie de un eveniment ceresc recurent, pentru a se rezolva", spune Plec. "Acestea se vor regasi pe lista lui Esther pentru a ajuta la eliminarea lui Klaus. Se intoarce la linia de sange, care incepe cu Ayanna, iar acum Bonnie si mama sa sunt cheia pentru rezolvarea misterului."
Elena and...Elijah?
Inca de la aparitia lui Elijah, cei doi au avut o legatura inexiplicabila unul cu celalalt. Plec spune ca ideea i-a venit pe neasteptate. "Cand ne-am decis ca avem nevoie de un vampir foarte rau la mijlocul sezonului trecut, care sa il introduca pe Klaus, nu ne-am fi gandit nici intr-un milion de ani ca el va avea aceasta prietenie magnifica cu Elena. Si iata ca acest lucru a evoluat intr-un sezon si jumatate. Saptamana viitoare este pus accentul pe compasiunea Elenei pentru Elijah si ingrijorarea sa pentru faptul ca a facut o greseala in a-i semna sentinta la moarte.
Dar asteptati, serialul nu il ignora pe Mat, nu?
Episodul de saptamana aceasta a demonstrat ca, desi el nu este implicat direct in toate lucrurile astea, relatiile sale de prietenie il pot pune in pericol de moarte. "Eu cred ca este cel mai important personaj din serial, pentru ceea ce reprezinta el: tipul acela normal, care doar incearca sa treaca prin viata, care spera ca va pleca intr-o zi din acest oras si sa aiba o viata normala, fara vampiri, fantome sau alte fiinte supranaturale.

Mie chiar mi s-ar parea foarte interesant sa vad acel flashback, si nu pentru ca sunt fan Stelena. Ci pentru ca sunt curioasa de reactia lui cand a vazut ca Elena arata exact ca si Katherine. Sunt curioasa sa vad ce fata a facut. :) Voi nu ?   Sursa
